Access to aWhere’s extensive retail intelligence knowledgebase is a core element of every aWhere solution deployment. The aWhere Retail Knowledgebase includes stores, distribution centers, store-level retail trade area profiles, product market share data, causal data, and banner hierarchies.
aWhere Data Provisioning
aWhere has a long history of managing multi-terabyte solutions for its customers. aWhere Data Provisioning includes the tools, processors, and methods to import, integrate, spatially process, and integrate high-volume transactional data from its customers.
aWhere’s proprietary location intelligence and analytics technologies serve as the core foundation of the aWhere web services platform. Highly interactive, visual applications are provided to let users visualize and interact with complex data to instantly “see” performance data and instantly recognize opportunities and exceptions.
As importantly, the aWhere Platform includes the tools, reports and administrative components to deliver complete world-class category management and sales performance solutions.
- Sales Reporting - The Platform includes on-screen, MS Excel, and print-ready reporting components to deliver highly visual, interactive sales reports and performance dashboards. A full complement of report views and report templates are available to provide sales status, exception reporting, and time-series analysis (e.g. Year over year) with both spatial and non-spatial aggregations.
- Predictive Analytics - The aWhere Platform eliminates the need for users to understand how to perform complex analytics processing. The power of aWhere location intelligence technology is apparent when your users are instantly presented with predictive scores of store-level market opportunities; in which current stores they should be performing better; and which new stores present the greatest opportunity for market expansion. Clustering, regression, and correlation analytics are integrated components of the Platform.
- User Administration - The Administration component ensures the privacy and security of your data across multiple users and provides reporting of user access and rights.
The aWhere Retail Knowledgebase is a comprehensive, spatially defined profile of your retail industry. aWhere’s proprietary database and knowledge architecture have been specifically developed to apply the power of spatial technology to the retail industry. The Knowledgebase includes store-level data critical for opportunity analysis and predictive analytics.
- Stores & distribution centers - aWhere holds key attributes about each store that will impact reporting and analytics processing including:
- Store name, ID, location, banner affiliation, and other store attributes
- Average weekly sales
- Distribution center location and banner affiliation
- Retail trade-area profiles - the Retail Knowledgebase includes trade-area profiles specific to each store location. Profile attributes include:
- Spatial definition (area) of the store’s specific trade area
- Demography (income, education, ethnicity, household profiles)
- Competitor distance and influence
- Causal data (weather, climate, events, etc.)
- Market areas - IRI, Nielsen, and SPINS market definitions plus county and state definitions.
The aWhere Data Provisioning Service is an automated data management platform and methodology to import and provision high volumes of sales and transactional data from clients for use in the client’s aWhere solution.
The Data Provisioning Service includes:
- Data Import - aWhere provides multiple import protocols for customer data including EDI transfers and FTP upload services.
- Data cleansing & error handling - each file transfer is automatically evaluated for format or integrity errors with exception notifications processed back to the customer. As required, data cleansing processes are applied to ready the data for data provisioning.
- Data provisioning - aWhere applies unique and proprietary methods to spatially associate all transactional data with any other data attribute or data format required by the solution. This approach empowers the user to see and interact with their data at any spatial (store, trade-area, market, region, territory, etc) or non-spatial (product, category, banner, etc.) level.
- Data hosting - aWhere securely stores the active transactional data for use by the solution. Long-term storage of raw data (data warehousing) is not provided by aWhere, however aWhere routinely manages and stores multi-terabyte active transactional files.

The aWhere Hosted Portal Service is a subscription-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution that requires no hardware capacity or unique software installations by the client's IT infrastructure. The user interacts with the Portal via a standard web browser.
Client solutions are hosted in aWhere’s Data Center providing secure data storage, co-located business continuity stability, and full options for multi-terabyte scalability.
